TCN 132/33 kV Substation Upgrade
A critical grid infrastructural upgrade delivered under live-substation operating parameters to secure robust power supply for Abuja.
Identifying critical risks and system bottlenecks.
The aging 132/33 kV substation at Abuja was suffering from thermal overhead limitations, outdated mechanical protection relays, and non-existent telemetry integration, resulting in frequent supply trips and risk to transmission assets.
Delivering precision engineering and tested technology.
Stephenson Brothers Limited (SBL) designed and executed a turnkey replacement program. We supplied and installed 2 x 60 MVA IMEFY power transformers, fully modernised the protection bays with high-speed numeric protection relays, and deployed a modern SCADA system for real-time diagnostics.
Successful commissioning and guaranteed performance.
Completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule with zero lost-time incidents (LTI). The substation achieved immediate stability, registering 99.6% post-upgrade technical availability.
